I am a Leeds-based artist specialising in textiles as a medium for storytelling and material innovation. My practice combines a deep respect for traditional craft with a drive to challenge and expand the boundaries of contemporary textile art. Working across both hard and soft materials, I explore how narratives are constructed, deconstructed, and reimagined through the dynamic interplay of cloth, stitch, ink, texture, and form.
At the core of my work is an engagement with identity, history, and social inequality. Quilts, garments, and layered textile structures become vessels for incomplete or unspoken stories some drawn from personal experience, others reflecting collective histories and the lived realities of marginalised communities. Through repetition, layering, and repair, textiles hold traces of absence and memory, inviting reflection on resilience, belonging, and care.
I hold an MA in Textiles (Mixed Media) from the Royal College of Art. My practice encompasses material-led experimentation alongside collaborative and socially engaged projects. Notable works include Stitched Stories at Yorkshire Sculpture Park (2022/23), a large-scale collaborative quilt incorporating 144 visitor narratives; Coded Stitch (2020), which employs embroidery on slate to explore identity and personal history; and Anatomy of a Quilt at Sunny Bank Mills (2024), where viewers were invited to immerse themselves in the rhythmic structure of layered textile forms.
Live performance and collaboration are also central to my practice. I work with choreographers and dance companies to create costumes and textile works that activate the relationship between fabric, body, and movement, allowing textiles to function as living, performative materials.
By drawing on the cultural histories of cloth while experimenting with new materials and techniques, my work positions textiles as powerful tools for storytelling, dialogue, and social commentary.
